Issue 12
After the thematic splendour that was issue 11’s love letter to the Indian Ocean, we thought we’d make issue 12 a ‘regular’ issue (well as regular as the horse can be.)
So, what we have here is a strong, fairly typical Horsies blend of creativity, adventure, photography and wordsmithery.
We wouldn’t say this is the all time greatest issue of White Horses, to be honest – visually, there’s three or four spreads that don’t knock the ball out of the proverbial park, but the wins (five female pioneers, scotty carter’s in-studio wave tank imagery, hugh mcleod’s vintage folio, euan bruce’s confronting essay, surreal midnight blackwater imagery, kiddies in Africa using suitcases as bodyboards) far outweigh the few dud spots.
And finally, fans of the fine Mike Judge 1999 comedy “Office Space” will be tickled to spot at least one photo caption that references this classic and under-rated film.
